CT Scan Service for Pets

When normal tests can’t quite explain what’s going on, a CT scan helps us “look inside” your pet in a clear, detailed way. It’s like a 3D map that shows us what’s really happening so we can plan the right treatment.
  • Great for tricky head, chest, abdomen, bone and spine cases
  • In-house CT scan at Kota Damansara Veterinary Centre
  • Images reviewed by Imaging Specialist and report within 24 hours.

What Is a CT Scan?

A CT (Computed Tomography) scan uses rotating X-rays and a computer to build cross‑sectional and 3D pictures of your pet’s body. Compared to normal X‑rays, it lets us see much more detail inside the head, chest, tummy and bones.

We usually suggest a CT scan when your pet’s problem is more complicated, or when we need very accurate information before surgery.

CT scans are especially helpful for:

  • Long‑term nose issues, sinus problems or constant sneezing
  • Ear disease and dental problems deep under the gum line
  • Head injury, seizures or sudden changes in behaviour
  • Chronic cough, breathing difficulty or suspicious lung shadows
  • Tummy masses, organ changes and urinary stones
  • Complicated fractures, limb deformities and back pain

Head, Nose & Teeth

Chronic sneezing, nasal discharge, tooth root abscess or any  trauma, swelling, tumours

Chest & Lungs

Spine & Joints

Pre-Surgical Planning

Will Sedation/GA needed for my pet?

For CT scans, your pet needs to stay very still. Most dogs and cats will need sedation or general anaesthesia so we can get clear images in a short time.

Before we go ahead, our team checks your pet’s overall health and may suggest blood tests, especially for senior pets or those with existing conditions. This helps us choose the safest plan.

On the day of the scan, we will:

  • Check your pet’s vital signs and medical history
  • Confirm fasting time and explain the sedation plan
  • Monitor your pet closely throughout the procedure
  • Keep your pet warm, comfy and supported while they wake up

We know leaving your pet for a procedure can be worrying. Our team will walk you through each step and let you know when your pet is ready to go home.

What to Expect on CT Day

Here’s a simple overview of how a typical CT scan visit usually goes.

1

Check‑in & Assessment

We say hello to you and your pet, do a physical exam and make sure your pet is fit for sedation or anaesthesia.

2

CT Scan

Your pet is gently positioned on the CT table. The scan itself is quick and painless — most of the time is spent getting them safely prepared.

3

Image Review

Images will be interpreted by imaging specialist abroad for a detailed report

4

Results & Next Steps

We explain the findings and talk through treatment options, further tests or surgery if needed.

Most cases your pet goes home the same day and there is no need for hospitalization.

How Much Does a CT Scan Cost?

The price depends on which part of the body we are scanning, whether contrast dye is used and what type of sedation your pet needs. We will always give you a clear estimate before you decide.

  • Consultation and pre‑scan check
  • Sedation or anaesthesia (if needed)
  • CT scan for the recommended area(s)
  • Interpretation of images and follow‑up discussion

If extra procedures or surgery are recommended after the CT scan, we will discuss options and costs with you first — no surprises.
